The journey that brought ChicMedwear to life
Founders' Background
ChicMedwear was founded by Sarah Chen and Michael Rodriguez, who met while working in the emergency department of a busy metropolitan hospital.
Sarah, a nurse practitioner with over 10 years of experience, and Michael, a physician assistant who has worked in several specialties, shared a common frustration: finding scrubs that were both functional and comfortable for long shifts.
Their combined healthcare experience of over 20 years gave them unique insight into what medical professionals truly need from their workwear.
Why We Started ChicMedwear
The idea for ChicMedwear was born during a particularly challenging 12-hour shift. After spilling coffee on her scrubs and struggling to find a comfortable position during a long procedure, Sarah realized there had to be a better solution.
"Traditional scrubs were either comfortable but looked shapeless, or stylish but restrictive during movement. We knew we could create something that offered both without compromise," recalls Sarah.
Michael and Sarah spent two years researching fabrics, testing prototypes, and gathering feedback from colleagues before launching ChicMedwear in 2019. Their goal was simple: create scrubs that healthcare professionals would love wearing, day after day.
